Robiaun R. Charles has over 25 years of professional experience in maximizing philanthropic support for institutions of higher education and other nonprofit organizations. A Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE), she has developed and enhanced the advancement programs of multiple colleges, universities, and nonprofits. Prior to founding ECG, she served as Vice President with Grenzebach Glier and Associates (GG+A), a leading global philanthropic management consulting firm where she led and supported projects with more than a dozen clients, including Boston University, the National Cathedral School, the University of Cape Town, the University of Virginia, Vanderbilt University, and Wellesley College. Before joining GG+A, Robiaun served as the Vice President for College Advancement at Agnes Scott College, where she was responsible for providing strategic direction and fostering relationships with individuals, corporations, foundations, and organizations to garner philanthropic support. Through her leadership, Agnes Scott met and exceeded the goal of the College’s largest-ever comprehensive campaign, raising $116 million against a $100 million goal. She additionally raised a record-breaking total of $21.1 million in new gifts and pledges, as well as a record $200K on Giving Tuesday in FY20.Prior to this role, Robiaun was the Associate Vice President and Executive Director of Development at the University of Texas at Austin. In addition to raising millions of dollars for the University’s Division of Diversity and Community Engagement annual operations, capital needs, and special projects as part of a university-wide $3 billion campaign, she led their strategic planning, annual fundraising goals and objectives, management of fiscal and personnel resources, and program development.
Prior to her work at the University of Texas at Austin, Robiaun served as Special Assistant to the President and Chief Diversity Officer and held advancement positions at the University of Evansville (Evansville, IN). Robiaun has also held development positions at Johnson C. Smith University (Charlotte, NC), the Atlanta Symphony, and United Cerebral Palsy. Robiaun has been the recipient of numerous awards and recognitions, including the Leadership Atlanta Class of 2019, Leadership Women Class of 2016, Evansville Black Women Task Force Black Women of the Year Award, the Austin Woman’s Magazine Distinguished African American Woman, the Evansville Chapter of the NAACP President’s Award, Kresge Foundation HBCU Initiative Advancement Fellow and more. She was a Turknett Leadership Group Character Awards Finalist and was honored by the City of Evansville with a Proclamation of Robiaun Charles Day.
In 2019, she was the Rollins College Commencement speaker and has presented at many conferences, including ACAD, AFP, APRA, CASE SUMMIT, and CASE Districts. Currently, Robiaun is President of the Rollins College Alumni Advisory Board and National Co-Chair of the Rollins Fund. Robiaun is a trustee on the Talladega College Board of Trustees. Most importantly she is the proud mom of her daughter Camille.
